From a chevron sample to an OEM production brief.

Acacia Teak Boards · Sourcing guide · Updated 19 October 2026

1. Turn the visual idea into a measurable brief

The visible starting point is a rectangular board with an angled chevron pattern and a continuous perimeter groove. A buyer's first brief should add overall length, width, thickness, intended use and target quantity per SKU.

A photograph communicates appearance, but it does not establish groove depth, edge section, handle requirements or tolerances. Pair it with a drawing. Name the chevron acacia cutting board when using this design as your starting point.

2. Approve the pattern and natural appearance

Specify the direction and repetition of the V-shaped layout, approximate wood-section widths, border treatment and acceptable colour contrast. Identify whether the required construction presents face, edge or end grain independently of the chevron design.

Acacia varies in grain and tone. Approve an overall visual range that can be used for repeat production, rather than asking every natural wood section to match one spot in the photograph.

3. Resolve machining before a sample is approved

Show the groove width, depth, corner path and offset on the drawing. Define rounded or square corners, the edge profile and any reverse-side machining. If side grips are requested, add their geometry and position for technical review.

Review how the routed details interact with the board thickness and pattern joints. This is the point to resolve a feature that could change the material requirement, machining sequence or quoted cost.

4. Review the physical sample and the branded unit

The sample should let the buyer assess the pattern, dimensions, flatness, edge feel, finishing appearance and proposed engraving. Place the logo using dimensioned artwork, then review its contrast on the actual wood.

Approve the retail pack and care information alongside the board. A sleeve, box or insert should fit the completed profile, and its labels should identify the right SKU. Retain the sample and approved artwork as a common production reference.

5. Carry the reference into manufacturing and QC

The agreed specification guides board preparation, assembly, CNC routing, sanding, marking, finishing and packing. The exact sequence depends on the approved construction. The factory images on this page show general production operations rather than a record of one customer's shipment.

Use a checklist for the pattern, joints, dimensions, flatness, routed edges, logo and packing. Agree any additional performance checks or third-party inspection scope before the purchase order. See our quality-control guide for the records to retain.

6. Keep a controlled reference for the next order

Save the signed drawing revision, approved sample reference, logo file, finish details, packaging artwork and carton specification together. Record an agreed change before it enters the next production order.

For an actual quotation, send the design, dimensions, quantity, logo, retail pack and destination. The factory confirms this item's MOQ and schedule after review; a photographed example alone is not a fixed commercial offer.

BUYER QUESTIONS

Before you request a quotation.

Is this a named customer case study?

This page is an illustrative development walkthrough based on a real photographed factory sample. Customer-specific quantities, prices, results and shipment records are not presented.

Can we begin with a photo instead of CAD?

A reference photograph is a useful start. Add dimensions, intended use and quantities; technical details and a production drawing need to be resolved before final approval.

What should we retain after approving a sample?

Keep the drawing revision, sample reference, accepted appearance range, logo artwork, finish specification and packaging files together for the order and future repeats.
